The Council is a group of specialized Vassal or Courtier characters that help a landed lord rule its realm.

Council positions

There are five council positions, each linked to one of the character attributes. Each Councilor has three possible tasks. A Councilor can only perform one task at a time and cannot lead troops while assigned to a task. A Councilor's skill is determined by the Attribute used for its Council position and a high or low Attribute can also cause minor beneficial or bungling events.

Position Primary Attribute Tasks Effects
Chancellor Diplomacy Integrate Title Speeds the de jure drift of a valid title into the realm
Marshal Martial Increase Control in County Increases the monthly Control gain in a County
Steward Stewardship Increase Development in Country Reduces building and holding construction time and increases monthly development growth in a County
Spymaster Intrigue Find Secrets Attempts to learn the secrets of characters in a given Court
Court Chaplain Learning Fabricate Claim on County Gains opportunities to acquire claims on a County

Bishop

Certain faiths replace the Court Chaplain with a Bishop. Bishops control all levies and receive all taxes from all temple holdings in the realm and receive a fraction of the taxes and levies generated by the Bishops of all Vassals. They'll then hand over the taxes and levies to the ruler, scaling with their Opinion on said ruler.

Spouse

If a ruler's spouse is unlanded she or he will take up a sixth Council position and give the ruler an Attribute bonus depending on the task they're assigned to.

Task Raised Attribute
Assist Ruler Minor bonus to all Attributes
Court Politics Diplomacy
Chivalry Martial
Manage Domain Stewardship
Court Intrigue Intrigue
Patronage Learning
